Every Tuesday and Friday your child will need to have their PE kits in school which is a pair of trainers, a pair of shorts and a T shirt. Please can you ensure your child has the necessary kit and that if they require an inhaler that they have it with them. It is important that your child has their PE kit with them on these days.
On Tuesdays your child will receive their Literacy homework and spellings which is due in on Wednesday. On Wednesday they will receive Numeracy homework which is due in on Thursday. On a Friday they will receive both Literacy and Numeracy homework which is due in the following Monday. On a Friday your child will have a spelling test. It is important that your child completes the homework set as it supports the work that they do in class. Please contact any of the teaching staff if there are any problems with the homework that has been set. To ensure that your child makes good progress it is important that they read regularly at home. To encourage the children to do this if an adult signs their reading record book on 10 occasions they will move along the reading display in the hall.
Autumn Term Topics
Over the Autumn Term we are investigating how Brotton has changed over the last 150 years, and the impact that Ironstone Mining had on the local area. In computing we will be looking at how to stay safe online, followed by handling data and in science we are looking at Living Things and their habitats. Please encourage your child to research these topics so they can share their findings with the rest of the class.
To update the house point system to reward good behaviour, effort with work and general attitude, we have got a ‘token’ system. When a child, or group of children receive a house point, they will get a token which is to be placed in the library in a glass tube. On a Friday afternoon they will be counted up, and the week’s winners announced in worship on a Monday morning.
