Welcome to The Starlight Nurture Group
Welcome to St. Peter's CE Primary School's Starlight Nurture Group. Mrs. Roberts & Mrs. Hayden will work with any child who attends the Starlight Nurture Group for three afternoons every week. The children within The Starlight Nurture Group work in a small group of up to 10 children for a maximum of 3 terms. The children spend the rest of the time with their mainstream class.
What is Nurture Group?
The aim of a Nurture Group is to help children participate fully in all school activities by providing an environment where a child feels safe and secure to explore their social and emotional needs. A place where they are nurtured so that they can develop their social skills independently and explore their feelings freely knowing that they are fully supported. They will learn what their emotions mean for them and how they can manage their feelings. They will learn how to share how they are feeling so that they can find support with their parents or carers, peers and staff.
The Nurture Room in which the Starlight Group will work, combines elements of both home and the classroom. This is set up like this so that the children can see the links between home and school and that we are building on what you as parents or carers have already established. Nurture Group staff work closely with parents/carers and class teachers to help children grow emotionally and socially so that they can perform to the best of their abilities in all environments.
This is a loving, caring, safe space for your child to grow to their full potential and one that everyone wants to be in!
